Welcome. We're very glad you could visit. I'm James, the 2003 Founder of Breakthrough Parents LLC®, a Certified Instructor of Breakthrough Parenting®, a Superior Court Mediator and sole legal custodial father of two.

A Little History

Following our separation, my children’s mother and I agreed on very little, except our love for the kids. Our's was a contentious break-up, at best. Within our family, there were deliberate efforts to alienate the affections of my children from me. In other words, I became the targeted parent in efforts to denigrate me, not just as a parent, but as a human being.

As a devoted Dad from a loving family and a professional man, I’d regarded myself as very able to take on life’s challenges. So, with a "lemons-to-lemonade" intention, I tried to turn adversity into advantages, but in this case- I felt wholly unprepared, uneducated and unable to navigate uncharted divorce-court waters. I immersed myself in parenting coursework with the pro who became not only a treasured mentor but a dear friend- Dr. Jayne Major PhD. I educated myself on parental alienation, general parenting practices and techniques, on family law, custody evaluations, divorce court, domestic violence issues, communications skills and in time, fantastic successes came. I was awarded full legal and physical custody of the children, or better said- THEY won custody of ME.

I decided to pay forward the lessons learned.

Whether its divorce court, custody battles (or as it's termed in states like Arizona- "Legal Decision-making- Authority"), alienation activity, domestic violence or behavioral issues in parenting, we'd all agree that our children are worth all our very best efforts.

Much of the battles waged are unnecessary and preventable.  At Breakthrough Parents, we're driven to help you prevent as much harm as possible. We assist parents by guiding and coaching them, helping access resources. Parents educate themselves and to gain tools that safeguard children from harm. We help parents extricate themselves from court more quickly. Parents have been amazed at how rapidly they can resurrect their image, not just in the eyes of the court, but in their children’s and even estranged spouses to0!.

In the throws of conflict and struggles, imagine how would your family experiences improve with civil communications, with creative, cooperative co-parenting? Do you now have a blueprint for success? A plan? If the answer is no, we can help. Regarding terms called PA (Parental Alienation) and PAS (Parental Alienation Syndrome): Parent alienation is essentially brainwashing. It is child abuse and it is horrific in it's impact on families. It can be a daunting challenge to detect, to effectively address, and to reverse the impact.

James developed and shares the personal strategies learned from his family’s setbacks and triumphs alike, along with that of thousands of others. His philosophy about parental alienation is summarized this way:

If we pride ourselves our children’s keepers and accept the notion there is even one seed of good in all people, then it is that seed we must nurture in the presence of our young. A crop watered with hateful rain is tarnished and barren; one showered with love yields a fertile harvest from which all the world may feast.

-James Schweikert, Founder

I began taking a 10- part parenting course in October of 2007 called Breakthrough Parents. James Schweikert, the owner of Breakthrough Parents was my instructor. As a newly single parent of an adorable 11- month old baby girl and in the middle of a very contentious custody struggle, I poked my head into Mr. Schweikert’s class and my life as a parent and a parenting partner has never be the same. Mr. Schweikert’s experience and never-ending willingness to listen and coach/teach over the last 6 years has helped me realize “breakthroughs” in areas of my life- both as a parent and a person.

Today, my daughter prepares to enter the second grade and although her parents maintain seperate households, she has the benefit of being loved by two parents who are constantly putting our petty differences aside to let our daughter not only know, but SEE and feel her parents working in tandom to meet her needs and prepare her for all that her life has to offer. Mr. Schweikert’s class and writings are a must- see and do for anyone who is serious about finding the “breakthroughs” in their own life as parents who are truly interested in a loving environment, even if that environment takes place at seperate street addresses.
